Product Description
JASMINE: A jasmine plant is a great addition to a garden or a home. Jasmine, known for its beautiful flowers and shining leaves, can fill your house with a unique fragrance. Jasmine is basically a bushy shrub that releases fragrance at night. There are 200 species, mostly from Asia, Europe and Africa. Jasmine is native to tropical and warm temperate regions.

ARABIAN TEA JASMINE

(JASMINUM SAMBAC 'MAID OF ORLEANS')

As sweet as the smell of success. But easier to come by. This everblooming Jasmine has bushy growth and does particularly well on windowsills. We find that the fragrance of the white flowers somehow clears the air. So set one of these plants on the sill, set yourself in a nearby chair and...easy now...breathe in. You will discover what others have discovered: the clarity of this fragrance is unrivaled in all of nature. It is well known in Asia for its use in teas and religious observances. Also known as the 'Arabian Tea Jasmine,' it is the National Flower of the Philippines, where it is known as 'Sampaguita.' Outside it is hardy to Zone 8 and higher.

Full sun, grows to 1-2' in container, minimum temperature 60 degrees, everbloomer.

The plant you will receive is growing in a 4" pot. It is about 6" tall.

5 out of 5 stars Intoxicating Aroma!   January 25, 2008

I got this plant from Hirt s and was pleased with the size and health, but disappointed that it had neither flowers nor buds right away.

After waiting a while with no results, I moved it to sit under a plant light, and gave it African Violet food. Voila! Tiny green buds appeared after about two weeks, and they -slowly- got larger and turned white.

Two weeks ago, the first bud opened to reveal a small, pristine white, delicate flower. The fragrance was heavenly! Everyone in the family stopped to inhale deeply every time we went past the pot.

When the blossom fell off the following day, I floated it in water, and it continued to provide fragrance for several days.

Other buds are swelling, and a total of five have opened including the first one. Each flower stays on the plant for about 24 hours, some a little more, some a little less. Yesterday, I had two OPEN at once. They fell off this morning, but another one opened.

Best of all, as the current crop of buds swell and open, I see new tiny green buds starting from branches that used to be bare.

The plant is easy to care for (don't drown it, don't let it dry out; give it good light; feed it lightly and infrequently with something like African Violet fertilizer), and is beautiful just for its leaves and overall shape. The flowers, when they come, are heavenly.

I've ordered several other plants from Hirt's, and all of them have arrived in excellent condition. This is the first one that I've gotten to bloom.

I PURCHASED THIS PLANT A SHORT TIME AGO. IT HAS BLOSSOMED WELL BUT THE FLOWERS HAVE FALLEN OFF THE FIRST DAY OF BLOOMING. I DO AGREE THAT IT
ARRIVED SMALL FOR THE PRICE. I HOPE IT ADJUSTS WELL AS IT IS FRAGILE. IT IS
INDEED VERY FRAGRANT AND BLOOMED DURING THE FIRST WEEK I ACQUIRED IT.

I was very satisfied with the size and condition of the plant, and it arrived very promptly. I've bought a plant from Hirt's Garden before and was equally satisfied. Highly recommended.

We purchased this plant and are EXTREMELY happy with our purchase. We have finally found the perfect garden center that has the great plants we have been looking for. The plant is very healthy, has tons of new growth, it was exactly what we expected.

We highly recommend Hirt's!

Since one reviewer commented on how small the plant was on arrival I want offer my experience. The plant I get today from the mail looks great and it's 16 inch high and brushy enough. It even has flowers already. If all goes well, I sure will see many flowers this summer -- I have previous experience with the type of plants.
